Daniel Espiritu L.Ac., of Espiritu Health Acupuncture has a deep and practical knowledge of several concepts that we incorporate into each customized treatment program. These four concepts are explained below:
Fusion of Physical-Mental/Emotional-Spiritual
In this complex world, we encounter many things that distract and set us out of balance. The beauty of the Physical-Mental/Emotional-Spiritual concept lies in its simplicity. An acupuncture treatment can effectively transform one’s reality and bring the body, mind and spirit back in harmony. For example, while treating a patient for elbow pain and simultaneously chatting with her about other issues she is experiencing in her life at home or work, Espiritu Health Acupuncture can add a few more acu-points to support growth, confidence, change and/or resiliency. The reverse situation can also apply. A patient may come in for assistance with a mental or emotional issue, and as we focus on that, he mentions his elbow pain. I view taking a holistic approach with patients as important and try to draw out early in the treatment program whether multiple issues are present, so each can be addressed, with the goal of bringing body, mind and spirit into equilibrium.

When the average person thinks of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, usually he/she perceives that its scope is limited to treating body pain. Yet as a primary form of medicine, Chinese Medicine can be used to treat a vast array of conditions both external (i.e., skin, muscles, bone, sinews and fascia) and internal (i.e., organs and organ functions). Effectively treating chronic and acute conditions, Espiritu Health Acupuncture is well versed in addressing complicated conditions where there may be combinations and layers of old and new, and often interrelated conditions and complaints.
As lifelong athletes, we are especially adept at understanding and treating sports-related injuries. Sports Acupuncture isn’t just for professional athletes. Whether you are a weekend warrior, a corporate athlete working at one of the many athletic companies in the Pacific Northwest, or somebody getting back into shape after years of being out of shape, injuries can occur from overuse or an accident, crash or fall. These types of issues can be effectively treated under the area of Sports Acupuncture.

At Espiritu Health Acupuncture, we specialize in bringing presence, patience and propriety to those aspects of the heart-mind. The mental and emotional realms of our human lives seem to be increasingly difficult to navigate. Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture are versatile and can help bring a sense of being grounded and focused in this chaotic world. Espiritu Health Acupuncture likes to use different modalities ranging from scalp acupuncture to abdominal acupuncture to moxibustion, all of which effectively bring safety and balance to the heart-mind.

Spirit
In today’s culture, talk of the spiritual aspects of life are greatly understated. If they are expressed, often it is shrouded in sarcasm or misunderstanding. Spirit, from the perspective of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, is based on the fusion of the spirit realm with all other aspects of ordinary life. At Espiritu Health Acupuncture, I enjoy bringing the elements of spirit into each session regardless of the condition being treated. For many of us, it is easier to find ‘spirit’ within nature and the changing seasons. To compliment this understanding, there is a primary concept in Chinese Medicine called the Five Elements or Phases - Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Espiritu Health Acupuncture uses the Five Phases in every treatment. Much has been written about this. I believe these five elements are present in nature as well as within each person and can get out of balance just like any other aspect of a person. Having a deep understanding of this concept, Espiritu Health Acupuncture applies many techniques to bring all the elements into harmony.
By fusing the four concepts together and emphasizing the aspects that are most applicable in each situation, Espiritu Health Acupuncture can help every person become better than when he or she first began the acupuncture journey.
